Turning a prehistoric website into an interactive customer experience

We have a site that our company is proud of and that our customers can use as more of an interactive experience which was our ultimate goal. We would absolutely go back for repeat business. We are very satisfied with our final outcome.

The Challenge

“Our website was very dated, some parts were nonfunctional, and it read more like a novel than an actual website.”Ryan, Marketing Coordinator

Established in 1946, Sebastian has provided premier construction and technology services for residential and commercial needs in California for over 70 years. Their clients range from municipalities, hospitality companies, educational institutions, correctional facilities, and residential projects. Specializing in electrical and lighting, residential and commercial communications, and integrated security products, they’ve completed hundreds of projects throughout California.

When Sebastian’s leadership team asked us to redesign their website, their existing website was outdated and failed to reflect their company’s commitment to superior innovation accurately. Sebastian’s site also lacked interactivity, which impeded the user experience for website visitors.

Sebastian’s leadership team requested that we design a website that conveyed their passion for building a people-focused experience that allowed site visitors to interact with the website elements, contact sales representatives, and view past projects.

Our Work

To kickstart the website design project, we first arranged a meeting with Sebastian’s leadership team. In a little over an hour, we gathered valuable information regarding their website project’s goals, feature requests and specific development requirements, and overall company vision.

“It was easy. We set up a few meetings to get to bounce some ideas around about our vision and then they made it happen. It was seamless and very pleasurable.”Ryan, Marketing Coordinator

Laying the foundation

Within the first two weeks of the website project, we developed a website architecture for Sebastian’s new website that simplified the overall user flow and improved website navigability. We worked with Ryan, Sebastian’s marketing coordinator, on the new website architecture and mapped out layout concepts for each proposed web page.

Our designers worked to maximize each web page so there were no unnecessary or “orphan” pages. After collaborating with Ryan and adjusting the sitemap based feedback from the rest of the executive team, we began to plan out the new website design.

Designing a people-focused experience

At Sebastian’s core lies an authentic focus on people. This is unsurprising when you consider that Sebastian is a family-owned company, started in 1946 by Bill and Ketey Sebastian. In addition to their dedication to their customers, Sebastian endeavors to provide their staff with a great workplace that empowers them to prosper and serve their communities and their customers.

As we designed Sebastian’s website, our web designers endeavored to capture this enduring focus on people and accurately convey Sebastian’s guiding principles of superior service, respect for people, and responsible loyalty to their customers and employees.

A story worth telling

We worked with Ryan to organize and arrange Sebastian’s marketing assets into a compelling narrative that accurately reflects Sebastian’s decades of experience and enduring focus on superior service.

70 years of superior service – told in seconds

Ryan Perricone, Sebastian’s marketing coordinator, worked with their in-house video production team to produce stunning videos highlighting Sebastian’s staff at work and their diverse range of services.

Our web designers mapped out a spacious website layout that prominently these video highlights in the hero section of the website’s homepage. These video highlights, combined with a bold headline, lets leads and website visitors immediately understand Sebastian’s services.

The Result

We appreciated the opportunity to work with Sebastian on their website redesign. Ryan and other leadership staff worked with us to create an interactive online experience for both customers and employees. When we asked Ryan to describe his experience in working with our team, he stated that he “enjoyed the entire experience and appreciated the patience, persistence, and hard work that AMARQUEZ put into the whole project. We are very satisfied with our final outcome.”

Thanks, Sebastian, we were glad to help!
